For the third year in a row, the Guerin Catholic girls swim team captured 2nd place in the 14-team “Schools With No Pools Invitational” at the IUPUI Natatorium, edging rival Brebeuf by only 0.5 points for over-all runner up to Cathedral.

On the night when the competing private and parochial schools celebrate Senior Night, senior Abby Maroney had a big meet in finishing 2nd in the 200 Free and 4th in the 500 Free while also helping the 400 Free Relay team swim a season-best time and capture a crucial 3rd place finish in the evening’s last event.  Fellow senior Micaela Mitchell, who is swimming better than ever as she winds down her career, achieved a lifetime best in the 100 Back by over a full second and secured important points in the process.

Other very strong performance were turned in by Clare Cline (2nd in the 100 Backstroke and 5th in the 500 Free), Catalina Dunasky (4th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 Breast), Gwen Ronnau (5th in the 200 Free and in the 6th in the 100 Breast, and Danielle Hunckler (6th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 Fly).

Next up for the Guerin Catholic girls swim team is Sectionals, which kicks off Thursday, February 2nd at Carmel High School.  Come cheer on the Golden Eagles!
