Three wrestlers competed in the Indiana Frosh-Soph State North Qualifier today in Fort Wayne. This brand new event helped determine the participants for the inaugural Frosh-Soph State Championships to be held at Southport High School on February 25-26.

Representing the North Indianapolis Athletic Club (NIAC), freshman Jon Koscal competed at 106, sophomore Zach Sutton competed at 113, and freshman Jeff Dunasky competed at 138 pounds. Koscal won his first match by fall. After losing in the second championship round, he won by fall again in the consolation round and then was eliminated after a second loss. Sutton won his first match by decision, but then lost twice. Dunasky reeled off five wins to finish as the champion and qualify for the Frosh-Soph State Championships.

Full results for the event can be found here.

These three young wrestlers took initiative to compete in an optional event and performed well. Best of luck to Jeff at the Frosh-Soph State Championships!
