A beautiful Friday night ended with a team win and team bonding for the Golden Eagles softball team.  After a slow night for the offense the day before, the bats erupted for 17 hits against Western Boone, scoring runs in 5 of their 7 trips to the plate. WEBO put up some offense of their own and the Golden Eagles trailed 6-4 entering the top of the 5th.  Seniors Megan Collins and Sarah Miller started the comeback with consecutive hits, while Seniors Kelby Sullivan and Kate Swift drove them in to tie the game.

With the game tied and 2 out in the top of the 6th Sophomores Maddie Buckner and Hanna Bills each singled then Collins and Miller added RBI hits to give GC an 8-6 lead.  That is all the offense Miller, who pitched a complete game, and the Golden Eagle defense would need as the Stars were held scoreless the last three innings.  Senior Kate Swift aided the defensive effort with two sliding catches in right field, both with two outs, to secure the win.

To cap off the victory and to take advantage of the weather, the bus made a quick detour and the girls invaded Lebanon, IN for some team time and Ice Cream.  The Golden Eagles play next on Saturday afternoon at Pike HS, 1st pitch 1pm.
