Softball Pounds Out 15 Hits in Win Over Pike

The Golden Eagle offense came out with the beautiful sunshine on Saturday afternoon at Pike H.S. on the west side of Indy.  Fifteen hits led to 11 runs as GC won the game 11-4.  The offense provided more than enough for Sophomore pitcher Hanna Bills who pitched 6 solid innings.

The Golden Eagles started the scoring in the top of the second.  With 1 out Senior Megan Collins was HBP, and promptly stole second base. A couple pitches later Senior Kelby Sullivan, who was 3-3, continued her hot streak at the plate by delivering a double that scored Collins giving GC a 1-0 lead.

Guerin Catholic was able to break the game open a little in the top of the 3rd by batting through the line-up and adding five more runs.  Sophomore Olivia Nystrom started the action by reaching on a Pike error after a great bunt.

Once again Senior Sarah Miller caught the opponents attention with by hitting her 5th HR of the season and adding an RBI double.  Sullivan led the charge going 3-3 with 2 RBI.  Others with pitching in with multiple hits were: Senior Julie Galina (3); Sophomore Maddie Buckner (2); Bills (2); and M. Collins (2).  Senior Kate Swift also joined the hit parade with a base-hit.

Next up for the Golden Eagles will be Senior Night on Monday at they host the North Central Panthers.
