The Golden Eagles were waiting all week to take on Jay County Friday night in the 2nd semi-final and after the 1st inning they were told they would have to wait one more day as the rain and lightening came.  Once the game resumed both teams brought their pitching and defense, but ultimately Sr. Sarah Miller proved to be too much for the opposition.

Miller pitched a 10 inning shout-out with 10 strike outs, but just as impressive was Miller’s offensive output.  Miller went 5-5 with 5 doubles and 3 of those hit the fences inches from being homeruns.

The Golden Eagles threatened almost every inning but it wasn’t until the top of the 10th that they were able to break through.  Senior Julie Gallina started the inning with a double to left and moved to third on a Sac Bunt from Sophomore Maddie Buckner.  Sophomore Hanna Bills followed with her first hit of the day to drive in Gallina for what would be the winning run.  For good measure GC added two more runs as Miller brought in Bills and Senior Kelby Sullivan added an RBI hit to score Miller.

The 3-0 win advanced the Golden Eagles to the Sectional Championship game v. Tipton later Saturday night.
