Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles Varsity Wins Back-And-Forth Affair Against Roncalli
Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles Varsity defeated Roncalli 6-4 in a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday. The game was tied at four with Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Grant Fremion tripled off of Hayden Harper, driving in two runs.
Kyle Hennie led Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. He went 2-for-3 at the plate. Hennie drove in runs on a home run in the fourth and a home run in the sixth.
Roncalli captured the lead in the first inning. Roncalli scored two runs when Nick Schnell homered with one out in the first inning.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Roncalli tied things up at four. Tommy Hansen drove in two when he homered in the sixth inning.
Trevor George earned the win for Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles Varsity. He pitched seven innings, giving up four runs, eight hits, and striking out eight. Max Lundy took the loss for Roncalli. He threw five and a third innings, giving up three runs, seven hits, and striking out five.
Home runs for Roncalli came when Hansen homered in the sixth inning and Schnell homered in the first inning.
Roncalli was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Brian Keeney had the most chances in the field with seven.
