Girls Junior Varsity Lacrosse, Girls Varsity Lacrosse · Guerin Catholic Varsity Women’s LAX Beats St. Josephs

Facing their first of two opponents for the day, GCHS Women’s Varsity LAX squad came out strong against St. Josephs, leading 6-2 at the half.  St. Joseph’s responded with their own strong effort and had the game tied 8-8 late in the second half.  A time out by Guerin Catholic allowed the team to regroup, and the Golden Eagles rolled off 3 goals to secure the win.

Leading scorers were Sophomores Sarah Baxter and Olivia Bedford, and Senior Ashley Dicks, all with two goals each.  The team tallied a total of 28 ground ball pickups with Maggie Rochford (6 ground balls), Ashley Beechler (5 ground balls) and Sarah Baxter (5 ground balls) leading the way.

Kalie Dicks provided great all around support with 3 ground balls, 6 forced turnovers and 1 interception in addition to 1 goal and an assist.  Sarah Bromberek had a great day at goal with 6 saves.

In the Junior Varsity match-up, the Golden Eagles lost a hard fought defensive battle against St. Josephs who came out on top 4-3.

Sophomore Ellen Myers lead the way in scoring with 2 goals and Freshman Ellie Barrett picked up the third goal.  Junior Amy Sanchez let the defensive effort with 3 ground ball pickups and 1 interception.
