The Guerin Catholic girls’ track team gets a shout out from Indiana Runner for the upcoming indoor state meet being held at IU this coming weekend!

This looks to be an open team race, with four teams in position to compete for the title.

West Lafayette – West Lafayette boasts four very strong relays and those points add up quickly in this HSR format.  They also have strong field events: shot putter Ashley Weatherly (#2 seed), long jumper Katy Penquite (#6 seed) and pole vaulter Maria Siciliano (#1 seed).  They could also score points in the 60 meter dash (Lauren Thomas).

Brebeuf Jesuit – Brebeuf has an elite sprint squad, led by Semira Killebrew (#1 seed 60 meter dash) and Nakita Turner (#1 seed 60 meter hurdles, #6 seed 60 meter dash).  Jordan Smith could also score points in the 60 meter dash.  They should compete to score points in all four relays.

Guerin Catholic – This is a distance-heavy squad, led by Megan Slamkowski (#2 seed in 3200 meter run).  They could challenge to win the 4×800 and/or the DMR, and should place well in the sprint relays.  Vaulter Reagan Ney could add some field events points.

Thea Bowman Academy – This team has outstanding sprinters.  They enter as the #1 seed in the 4×200 meter relay and the #2 seed in the 4×400 meter relay.  They have had three girls break 8 seconds already in the 60 meter dash: Tychina Scott (#2 seed), Melody Jones (#3 seed) and Emijah Davis (#4 seed).  Jaylenn Williams could score well in the 60 meter hurdles.
