Girls Varsity Swimming · Guerin Catholic Girls Swimming & Diving Continues Strong Showing

The Guerin Catholic girls swim team soundly defeated the Scecina Memorial Crusaders and the host Beech Grove Hornets on Thursday evening.   With several top swimmers unavailable, GC still scored 142 points to the 106 and 64 earned by Beech Grove and Scecina, respectively.

Top 3 finishers were as follows:

200 Medley Relay: 1st – J. Pierce, K. Swack, D. Hunckler, C. Dunasky

200 Free: 2nd – Gillian Defalque

200 Individual Medley: 1st Danielle Hunckler & 2nd Evelyn Cacchillo

50 Free: 2nd Catalina Dunasky

1 Meter Diving: 1st Emma Abdalla & 2nd Grace Corman

100 Fly: 1st Danielle Hunckler & 3rd Courtney Lacy

100 Free: 2nd Kate Swack & 3rd Evelyn Cacchillo

500 Free: 3rd Gillian Defalque

On Saturday, the girls took part in the 5-team Husky Invitational at Hamilton Heights. With sEmma Abdallaeveral girls again unavailable due to illness, and several more swimming despite feeling unwell, the team showed great grit.  Freshman Mary Kate Cline was the only event winner,taking the 100 Free in a near-record time.  Mary Kate also took 2nd in the 100 Back.
Fellow freshman Emma Abdalla (pictured) finished an impressive 2nd in the diving competition and broke her own school record in the process. Other standout swims were turned in by Catalina Dunasky (4th 50 Free & 4th 100 Breast), Danielle Hunckler (4th 100 Fly), and Clare Cline (4th 500 Free).
