Girls Varsity Softball · Walk-off Win for Softball

The Golden Eagles won their second game in consecutive nights Wednesday.  This time it was in dramatic walk-off fashion v. Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter.  With the game tied at 8 in the bottom of the 7th with two outs, senior Caitlin Collins was hit by a pitch to get the winning run on base.  Next up was fellow senior Jackie Sapienza who delivered the game-winning double down the right field line, the hit was the second of the game for Sapienza.

For the 2nd night in row, GC had to fight back multiple times before getting the win.  The Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st behind a 2-run home run over the left field fence.  Unfazed the Golden Eagles retaliated with 5 runs in the bottom half of the inning.  The lead was short-lived as Ritter scored 6 in the top of the 3rd, and GC responded once again scoring 3 in the bottom of the 5th.

Freshman Alicia Flores pitched another complete game and added two hits on offense.  Fellow Freshman Ana Macha also had multiple hits on the day.

The Golden Eagles host Western Boone Friday, May 11 at  5:30 P.M. and will be honoring the Guerin Catholic Seniors.
